Neutral Binder for Repairing Cracked Dry and Scaly Leather
Neutral Binder is a strong binder which stabilises the surface of the leather without making it too stiff. It is used for damages to the leather surface where it has become brittle and needs smoothing down prior to repair.

Amount: 250 ml bottle, 1 litre

Some old pigmented, smooth leathers get brittle surfaces which cannot be repaired with COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh and COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather alone. Leather Fresh is perfect on scratches, rubbed off colour and slight fading, whereas Liquid Leather is optimal for filling deeper cracks and rips. It is however not suitable if an entire surface needs to be repaired.

To find out whether the damage affects just the colour or the leather, simply brush your hand over the area. If you feel resistance in one direction, that means that the leather is damaged. In which case you will need COLOURLOCK Neutral Binder.

Application areas: Car Leather, Furniture Leather

For: Pigmented leather, PU leather, Semi-aniline leather

First remove any grease from the repair area with COLOURLOCK Degreaser. Don’t use Mild or Strong Leather Cleaner in damaged areas! The damaged area would only soak the liquid and the leather will get stiffer. The regular cleaning products are only recommended for undamaged surfaces.

After degreasing, apply Neutral Binder with a sponge in the direction of the fibre structure and allow to dry naturally between applications (do not use a hairdryer). If necessary, repeat the process and smooth rough areas with the COLOURLOCK Sanding Pad. Neutral Binder is a strong binder which stabilises the surface of the leather without making it too stiff. Rougher areas can also be processed with a brush. Deeper cracks and rips can be filled with Liquid Leather. Finally, smooth down rough areas with the Sanding Pad.

Recolour the repaired area with COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh. Use a hairdryer to dry after each application.

To preserve the repair, apply COLOURLOCK Leather Protector. It contains antioxidants which reduce the disintegration of the leather. Its UV filters protect the surfaces of old leather from fading. In addition, the leather regains its smooth surface.

Please note: There is a limit to recovering with Neutral Binder. It will only stabilise the leather for a little longer but the leather will never be as good as new.
Application: Repair & Recolour
Application Area: Bags & Cases, Car, Furniture
Leather Type: PU leather, Pigmented leather, Semi-aniline leather

Great product and company...

This is a great company and products. They have instructional videos on Youtube and the products are top notch. We have ordered direct from Colourlock although they have a $250 minimum order for free shipping. We contacted them via tech support and their instruction and guidance was fantastic. This is my goto leather restoration and care product forever!

Brilliant invention

I have a leather studded office chair and the leather has started to crack. One crack had positively gone into a split. I used this substance, wiped it on and let it dry. Gave it several coats. The cracks and split has now sealed. Even though you can see where the leather was cracked it has sealed it and prevented it from becoming worse. My office chair is pale blue leather and if I could find a colour restorer of the colour I know it would disguise it more. A little goes a long way. Now it just looks as though how it is worn is just part of the patina. I have used neutral polish and buffed the chair. Would recommend.

Works well - just wear gloves

I thought this worked quite well to firm up the leather in the cushion creases of our leather sofa. I'd buy it again, which is the best test. Make sure you wear gloves, though! Seriously, this stuff took the top layer of my skin off and the surface of my nails...

Old style bomber jacket.

The area which has cracked leather, after using the product on the cracks it softens them out but they are still there. Gives the leather a lift.
